My adventure with yeast started with pizza but I also like yeast cakes and buns so there it is! I found the recipe on Arabeska’s blog, changed the filling and voila!
Portion for 2 cakes:
2 1/2 cups flour
125 g butter
½ tsp salt
1 bag of dried yeast (7 g)
¼ cup sugar
½ warm milk
Mix yeast with milk then eggs with sugar and salt. Melt the butter and cool it down. All these ingredients mix with flour (dough will be really sticky). Sprinkle dough with flour (gather it in the middle of the bowl first), cover the bowl with foil and put it in the fridge overnight.
Next day divide dough in two. Shape each of them shortly and use a rolling-pin to make it into a rather thin rectangle on a flour sprinkled table. Cover each of rectangles with filling (in my case it was custard with jam and cinnamon/strawberries/almond).
After that you need to roll the rectangle into a roll, cut it lengthwise with a sharp knife but not till the end and plait these two “straps” together. Make sure to “glue” the ends.
Move cakes onto the form covered with baking paper and let it rise (should double in size). Bake in 180 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
