Another variation of yeast buns, these ones are shaped into hearts. Originally they were filled with nuts but I made them with apples. The recipe comes from here. Enjoy!


Ingredients (make 10 buns):

160 ml milk

2 ½ tbsp sugar

½ tsp salt

1 egg

2 ½ cup flour

2 tbsp melted butter

7 g dry yeast or 15 g fresh

Mix well all ingredients and knead the dough till the dough will not be stickly but elastic. Form a ball and place it aside to rise (double the size).

Divide the dough into 10 equal parts (around 65g each) forming balls. Proceed as shown on the pictures below.

Set aside for another 30-40 minutes. Brush with beaten egg mixed with 1 tbsp of milk.

Bake at 180ºC around 15-17 minutes. Cool down.

I filled my buns with apples (recipe here) but you can also fill them with this nutty filling:

200 g ground nuts (walnuts or pecan)

100 g brown sugar

80 g full cream

40 ml rum (or rum aroma)

½ tsp cinnamon

Mix well all ingredients.
