I really like cornets similar to those from my local supermarket. I was looking for metal cones to make them for a while and then last week I spotted them in one of the shops. Full of energy I managed to make 6 and realized I cannot take them off the metal cones ;). Sigh. Of course I had to make them again but this time cones were coated with butter and flour. They turned out perfect and I could enjoy them with my coffee.
I did not know how to call this cake and finally decided on childhood one. That’s due to the fact that my mother used to make it often when I was a little girl. I remember how much fun I had with separating the layers and eating them in the yummy order: first the biscuit, then the jelly and the (best in the end) cream. I like the biscuit recipe for this cake. You actually have to drop it on the floor after you bake it. Funny, isn’t it? Enjoy!
This recipe intrigued me so much that I had to try it. I did not know what to expect, but to be honest I should have had since it is pretty obvious that it will be a bit like an oven-made omelette. At least in the centre. The idea is great though, I like the speed with which one can prepare it and the delicious result. I will certainly prepare it again but for now will present you the recipe which comes from irreplacable Nigella and her newest book “Kitchen”. Enjoy!
Another Sunday, another pancake. Apparently the name “Dutch baby” was introduced by a daughter of Victor Manca, which was the owner of a family-run restaurant. The “Dutch” refers to the group of Pennsylvania Dutch, where “Dutch” was meant as “deutsch”. I must say I really love this recipe because spending time by the hot pan and flipping the pancakes is not my favourite task. The taste of this pancake is great, the center of it is almost custard-like. Sprinkled with a little lemon juice and icing sugar makes a perfect dish. I took my recipe from here, enjoy!
Since a long time I wanted to make this kind of pie. There is something tempting in a way you eat it and how does it taste and look like (or it might just be me and my imagination). I used the recipe of Gordon Ramsay for hot-water pastry and I made the filling basing on recipe from here. Whole thing was really tasty and I am looking forward to prepare another one but with a different filling. Enjoy!
Had to make some “brain food”. I chose these bars because I trust Nigella and her love to good food. They are really tasty: chewy, crunchy, not too hard and not too soft. The result was satisfying and I will for sure prepare them again. The recipe comes from “Nigella Express”. Enjoy!
The best combination of flavors and textures I tried till now. In a cheesecake of course. It’s delicate, with a hint of marzipan and the same time not too sweet. Also really fast to prepare so a very good option for people suffering from chronical shortage of time (like me ;)). This recipe comes from here. Enjoy!
In Poland we call them pancakes but most of you know them as crepes. Traditionally we serve them with curd cheese, fresh cream and sugar. They take me back to my childhood, to the times when I would wait for my mom to prepare them and then try and eat them without spreading cheese all over my face and clothes (as you know small kids tend to fail at that ;)). I took the recipe from here. Enjoy!
