On 16th of February in Poland we celebrated Fat Thursday. On that day pretty much every person in my country ate some kind of sweet, fatty thing like doughnut, angel wing etc. Tradition says one needs to do it to have a rich and a prosperous year ahead. So on that day I prepared these doughnuts which we call literally little tyres. They were easy to make and I enjoyed eating my portion of luck ;). The recipe comes from here. Enjoy!
Ingredients for around 30 pieces:
500 g cream cheese (can be also a full fat quark)
3 tbsp sour cream
3 tsbp sugar
16 g vanilla sugar
1 tsp baking soda
2-3 cups flour
Knead all ingredients into a soft, non-sticky dough (start with 2 cups of flour and add more when needed).
Roll the dough to 0.5 cm thick and cut out doughnuts.
Fry on both sides at 195˚C (I used a fryer).
Remove the excess oil with a tissue and sprinkle with icing sugar.
